5 Blogging Tips To Resolve Writer’s Block

These blogging tips will help resolve what is, arguable, the one fear that all writers suffer – writer’s block. First, a quick definition. Writer’s block is the inability to either come up with a topic to write on, or the inability to turn an idea into an article.

Every writer has suffered from it at some time in their career. Even the great writers. Bloggers are no different particularly if you write every day. If you ever find yourself struck with the dreaded writers block, come back to these blogging tips and see if they help.

Tip 1: Stop writing, forget about writing, surf your blog network. Read not for inspiration, but for knowledge and enjoyment. If along the way ideas start to form, write them down immediately. I find it useful to have notepad open in the background where I can put thoughts, copy and paste URL’s and even copy and paste text that I think would be useful.

Tip 2: Walk away -totally away. Go and do something else. Go for a walk, mow the lawn, anything but writing. If possible do something that involves solitude. Walking or jogging is ideal. A great tool here is a mini voice recorder. Some of the latest MP3’s have this function. Any great thoughts surface – record them.

Tip 3: Subscribe to posts by email from several of your favorite knowledgeable bloggers. When reading only delete them if they hold no interest. Those posts that are interesting and offer writing opportunities for the future -save the email. When writer’s block strikes, dig them out and start reading.

Tip 4: Write about an entirely different subject. Write a letter. Write comments on other blogs. Do some rambling writing where you just start writing and let your thoughts carry you along. Walk away and come back in half an hour to read what you have written. You will be surprised at the results.

Tip 5: This tip is a little different. Be Prepared. Sometimes the block cannot be resolved quickly so always have one or two articles pre-written that you can call on in emergency.

My biggest blogging tip of all though is – don’t let writer’s block get to you – the worst thing that can happen is that you miss today’s post.
